Founded in Manchester, Vermont, in 1856 by Charles F. Orvis, Orvis is a family-owned retail and mail-order business specializing in high-end fly fishing, hunting and sporting goods.
Vermont is the country’s leader in maple syrup production, with the ideal climate for growing sugar maple trees. It takes around 40 years for a maple tree to mature to be large enough to tap.
Green Mountain Coffee, located in Waterbury, VT, has grown tremendously, investing and eventually purchasing the Keurig coffee company, becoming Keurig Green Mountain.
The first Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream store opened in Burlington in 1978 with two guys in a renovated gas station.
