Baston-Cook Construction contacted Sundek National Accounts to transform a new downtown Charlotte, NC Luxury Apartment complex with an exclusive rooftop amenities center. Sundek installed a Nova Sport Court system for the tennis court surface. The scope of work included; pressure washing, applying a WB100 Primer coat, and broadcasting 50-mesh sand into the epoxy. We then applied four coats of Nova Cushion, two coats Nova Combination surface in Blue for the surrounding field color & Classic Green for the courts playing surface. We then finished the installation with the most important part…applying Seal-A-line & NovaTex line paint to meet USTA requirements.

Sundek installed Classic knock- down Texture acrylic water-based finish coat for the walkways and chessboard around the tennis court areas. The chessboard signature colors used were Brick Red and Sable. The walkway that surrounded the tennis court included a flowing design of alternating colors and arcs that help to lead the tenants to the various amenity areas. The water base finishing colors used were Mojave Sand, Terra Cotta, Peking Blue, Slate Blue and Smoke Grey.

The biggest challenge was the time of year and working with Mother Nature. The project was being done in January in Charlotte…not ideal outdoor conditions. However, the GC was pushing to complete, as we were one of the last trades in. We had placed heaters on the parking garage level under the surface & tented the area during the night hours to assist with the temperatures. Sundek crews were able to complete the installation as scheduled and provide another surface solution for a Sky House property.
