PANAMA CITY BEACH — Pier Park has added Freshzza, a pizzeria, and will have a grand opening event Feb. 8 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Freshzza is a modern “family pizza joint” that serves up pizza, wings, hoagies, a few salads, sides and desserts. The restaurant grows its own fresh basil using hydroponics.

The restaurant is an interactive open-kitchen format that allows guests to customize the menu’s pizzas. They can choose from a wide selection of ingredients.

Freshzza had a soft opening on Jan. 2 and so far the reception of the new pizza joint has been positive.

“If you look at our Google reviews, we’ve had about five or six reviews and they’ve all been fives so far,” Mark Anderson, Freshzza’s franchise owner said. “The people love our crusts, they love our meats, and we’re a family-friendly atmosphere.”

Anderson believes opening at Pier Park is a perfect location for his franchise. He likes the community atmosphere that it brings.

“This might be a tourist hot spot, but that’s not why we’re here,” said Anderson.

Freshzza is committed to using fresh ingredients and having their pizzas done within three minutes, according to a press release.

Freshzza will also provide a 10% discount to local heroes, including military personnel, police, firefighters, nurses and teachers.

“We’ve gotten really good feedback from people and especially from the lunch crowd,” Syara Perez, Director of Marketing and Business Development for Pier Park said. “It’s a very nice, calm, chill spot, and the staff are really friendly.”

Perez added that there is a little healthy banter from the staff if you order a plain pizza without all the meats on it.

“They gave me a hard time about it, but I told them I’m a Plain Jane and I would add extra on it next time,” said Perez.
