in 1960, Walter Elmer spent more than 20 years operating successful restaurants.
Along the way, he decided his love of people and good food meant that
his own restaurant would be more than a business venture. While Walt’s
first Elmer’s was a labor of love, it also was an immediate success.
The second Elmer’s opened just two years later. And in 1966 the Elmer
family began offering franchises.
